Senior Commercial Manager

My client currently seeks a Senior Commercial Manager to join their £300m t/o business. The company was founded in the late 1800's and is one of the most successful family owned business in the UK with a group turnover in excess of £700m.

Role Purpose


• Lead the Construction Team’s commercial activities to deliver maximum profit to the Company

• Support the Commercial Director in devising and implementing the commercial aspects of the Division’s strategy and drive commercial activities to ensure achieve of commercial goals and targets.

• Develop and maintain relationships and networks with key contacts, clients, PQS and contacts to ensure the Division’s pipeline and current forward load targets and collaborative relationships are maintained, as directed.

• Lead commercial activities on projects to ensure that the Division achieves full and maximum value for all the work executed and retention payments are paid on time.

• Provide strategic commercial advice at all stages of the construction process and provide practical advice to Management on contractual matters, for projects under their control.

• Develop and build the surveying capability within the team ensuring all processes, standards, procedures and behaviours are adhered to.

• Monitor, maintain and further develop commercial rigour within the Team to ensure correct forecasting and return of full and maximum entitlement on projects. Promote commercial practice that reduce and ultimately eliminate claims.


No of reports = approx 6
Team turnover = approx £ 80M p.a.
Average project size = ranges £10M - £100M but average = £20M
All forms of contract and procurement routes and sectors

Educational Background

Ideally Degree in appropriate Discipline
Postgraduate Diploma
A minimum of a HNC is expected or equivalent experience

Professional Membership/Qualifications:

• Corporate Membership of Professional body expected.
